Concorde’s Tune 2yo colt wires Gomez Memorial

Red Nation gave Ocala Stud stallion Concorde’s Tune his latest stakes winner on July 12, when
the speedy 2-year-old colt captured his first career stakes victory in the form of a front-running win
in the $55,000 Frank Gomez Memorial Stakes at Calder Race Course.

Red Nation out-broke the promising field of juveniles and never looked back, running them off their
feet en route to a 2 ¼-length score while never being seriously challenged at any point in the six-
furlong dash. The final time was 1:13 3/5 for the colt, who was bred by Ocala Stud out of the Polish
Pro mare Valid Pro.

Owned by Ronald Morgan and trained by John Shaw, Red Nation broke his maiden in early May at
Calder by a convincing 6 ¾ lengths and set the pace in his stakes debut in last month’s BL’s
Sweep Stakes before fading in the stretch. The colt added Lasix for the Gomez and got back into
the winner’s circle for the second time in just four starts. The win moved his earnings to $49,400.
